Dhanushkodi:
Dhanushkodi Beach lies on the tip of the Rameswaram island. In this beach, the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea of Indian Ocean merge which is known as Arichal Munai in Tamil. Before 1964, Dhanushkodi was a busy, crowded city. The Dhanushkodi Beach attracted thousands of tourists each day. Road to Arichal Munai
In 1964, Dhanushkodi was hit by a cyclone and was almost destroyed by it. It is considered a ghost town, as the place became uninhabitable. Many tourists still visit Dhanushkodi Beach. The main attractions of the beach are Ram Sethu view point, also known as Adam’s Bridge, which is said to be constructed by the army of Vanaras (monkeys) for Lord Rama according to Hindu Legend.
Kothanda Ramar Temple:
The Kothandaramaswamy Temple at Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu is a shrine dedicated to the Hindu deity Rama. The temple is Classified one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethram of Vaishnavate tradition. Located at a distance of 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) from Rameswaram, it forms the southernmost tip of the island. The temple is the only historical structure to survive the 1964 cyclone that washed away Dhanushkodi. The temple has the deities of Rama, Lakshmana, Sita, Hanuman and Vibhishana. The temple is surrounded by sea and remains a tourist attraction. It is easily accessible from Rameswaram.
APJ Kalam House:
Abdul Kalam’s ancestral house was situated on Mosque Street in Rameshwaram. It had been built in the middle of the nineteenth century and was a fairly large, pucca house made of limestone and brick.
Ramar Padham:
Gandhamadhana Parvatam famous for its beautiful sunrise and sunset. It is a holy place for Lord Rama’s footprints, on the Chakra.
From this hilltop,can view the entire island of Rameshwaram. This is the highest point in the island.

Ramartheertham:
Ramar Theertham is one of important place to visit in Rameshwaram , the place had of tank(Ramar theertham) and Ramar temple. Its said to ramar had been here while on the way to srilanka
Panchamugi Hanuman:
Located about 3 Kms from the Ramnathswami temple. His idol .have five faces. We saw this temple while returning to my hotel. There is a big statue of Lord Hanuman in black color, having five different faces. Just in front of the statue is a small temple devoted to Him. We got inside and had quick darshan there. There is a small statue inside the sanctum. Photography is not allowed here. According to the legend, when Ahiravana a great demon and brother of Ravana , took unconscious Lord Rama and His brother Laxmana to Patal Lok and hid them .Hanuman went in search of them and came to know that demon Ahiravana can only be killed if lamps which were put in five different directions are extinguished simultaneously .So Hanuman became the 5 gods in different directions, named 1-Hanuman 2- Hayagreeva 3-Narsimha 4-Garuda 5-Varahswami and extinguished all the five lamps simultaneously and then Ahiravan was killed and Lord Rama and Laxmana were saved from his clutches. This five faced statue signifies the face of those five Gods in one God Hanuman.
Floating Stone :
One can also see a piece of floating stone near the temple. There is a Shiva temple nearby. It is accessible by Auto or car.
Ram Teertham is a temple pond of Kodhanda Ramar temple situated on the Main Road of Rameswaram. Recently painted yellow colour mantapam stands bright at the centre of the tank. The waters are clean. Adjacent to this there is a Krishna temple run by a north Indian trust.
Seetha Theertham :
Sita Theertham is located opposite to the Panchamukha (Five faced) Hanuman temple. It is also close to Lakshmana Theertham. It is believed that Sita took bath in this Theertham after returning from Lanka and took rest nearby. A big floating stone and fishes in the pond are the main attractions there. This is also in the town near the main temple
Lakshmana Theertham:
Lakshmana Tirtham had been constructed in the loving memory of Lord Lakshman, brother of Lord Rama, which indicates that Lord Lakshman had been given a valuable place in the dynasty of Lord Rama. A sacred pond dug near the temple of Laxmana, the “Lakshmana Tirtham” is a divine place close to Ramanathswamy Temple. The temple of Laxmana contains several instances of Ramayana engraved on its walls. People coming to the temple for a visit often go for taking a dip in this pond.
The temple has the statues of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita too, which signifies their spirit of unity.
APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial :
Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, better known as A. P. J. Abdul Kalam who was the 11th president of India. Kalam was born and brought up in Rameswaram and became a scientist and worked for DRDO and ISRO. After his sudden demise at Shillong on 27th July 2015, he was laid to rest at Pei Karumbu, Rameswaram on 30th July 2015. A memorial has been built at the burial site. Inside, the memorial, one can see the selected photos, paintings and miniature models of misssiles etc.,. The memorial is less than 1 km from Rameswaram.
Ekanthamasamy:
Sri Ekantharamasamy Temple is a 15th century ancient temple dedicated to Sri Rama. During the Srilanka war Rama made conference meetings with his Vanara warriors on this place. Amirtha Vabi theertham was created by Sri Rama to all Devars & Vanara warriors which is inside the temple. This holy theertham is equiland to nector (Amirtham)
Villoondi Theertham:
Villoondi Theertham is situated about 6 km from the Rameswaram main bus stand. Besides its arresting views and silent tides, the place is also known for its pure water spring inside the sea. A few metres from the shore, this pure water well beside the sea is a marvel. Devotees connect its existence to a mythological legend from the epic Ramayana. After rescuing Goddess Sita and bringing her back to Rameswaram from Sri Lanka, Lord Rama performed rituals by installing a Shiva linga on the spot. When Sita said she was thirsty, Rama shot an arrow into the sea, and from there emerged a spring bringing forth pure water. The Shiva lingam is named Thryambakeshvarar, and there is a Shiva shrine near Villoondi Theertham.
Pamban Bridge:
People go there to have a view of the Pamban bridge and take photos and videos. You get to see the Indian Ocean on one side and the Bay of Bengal on the other side of the bridge at a distance. Fishing boats are seen everywhere.
